William Ruto- A look at His Journey to The Hague.

Many describe William Ruto as a self made man, rising from the normal village life to the pinnacle of Kenya's political power, and just a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Here is a look at his journey to the Hague.

1987- Admitted to Study Bachelor of Science Botany, at the University of Nairobi.

1989- Christian Union leader at UON. Goes to perform a christian choir at State House and meets former President Daniel Arap Moi, who would become his political mentor.

1992- Joins the Youth for Kanu, YK 92, one of only a handful of young leaders who would be charged with
campaigning for Kanu in the heat of the strong opposition which came about as a result of the introduction of multiparty democracy.

1997- Captures the Eldoret North Parliamentary seat from former KCC boss Reuben Chesire.

2002- Teams up with Uhuru Kenyatta and Musalia Mudavadi to campaign for the candidature of Uhuru Kenyatta. Kenyatta loses to Mwai Kibaki of Narc in a landslide.

2005- Teams with the No team, led by Raila odinga to campign against the new constituion. The No team wins against the 'Banana 'yes' team in the referendum.

2007- The No team of  the referendum transforms into ODM, with five pentagon Members, Charity Ngilu, Joe Nyagah, William Ruto, Najib Balala, Musalia Mudavadi, and Raila Odinga. The Presidential flag bearer, Raila Odinga, loses the election controversially, and violence erupts immediately afterwards. Violence is most pronounced in Eldoret, Nandi and its environs.

2010- He campaigns against the new constitution, but loses to the yes team.

2010- William Ruto is among the six Kenyans named by Justice waki as the ones who bore the greatest responsibility for the 2007/08 violence. The others are Uhuru Kenyatta, Amb Francis Muthaura, Joshua Arap sang, Hussein Ali, and Henry Kosgey. Their cases are defreed to teh hague after the setting up of local tribunal fails.

2012- Teams up with Uhuru Kenyatta under the Jubilee coalition.

2013- Mr. Kenyatta wins elections and becomes President, William Ruto becomes Deputy President.
