President Uhuru Kenyatta will skip the high level UN meeting, a first for a sitting Kenyan President since independence. This is due to the power vacuum such an absence would have created. The president will be represented by Amb. Amina Abdalla in the UN meeting. Just last, week, the President missed another high level meeting in Brussels, which was meant to discuss the future of Somalia. Deputy President William Ruto is
at The Hague, and an absence of the two is thought to be highly undesirable as it will create a power vacuum.
