The government is being reforced to relook at the VAT bill, as its effects continue to be felt by the common mwananchi. In most places, milk now retails at Kshs. 65, a price which many ordinary Kenyans can hardly afford. The KRA has insisted that it has not raised taxes on most essential commodities, and alleges that the
price increases are due to rogue traders. In Gatundu farmers held a demonstration yesterday because of the high animal feed prices, which was occasioned by the increase in VAT.
