Meet the Kenyan who wants to build the next Google.

Craft Silicon is not like any company in Kenya. Its CEO is Kamal Budhabalti, a youngish 30 something Kenyan of Indian descent. The company has operations in Kenya, India, and the famed Silicon Valley- right in the middle of where Facebook, Google, and Yahoo are. The young man's first job was an 18,000 a month data entry job at a bank, a job which he had been told of while still in India. When he had about the job, he hopped into the next Kenya Airways flight to Kenya. However, a few months into the job, his employer found that he was doing a side hustle job and immediately fired him and sent him on the next flight
back to India. He however did not lose hope and saved enough to book another flight to Kenya, from where he landed another data entry job.

He then decided to launch his company straight away, and soon got a million shilling contract for rolling a bank payroll software. Then, other jobs started coming in. Currently, the company is worth about Kshs 4.5 billion, and employs over 400 people. The company has also created an environment where employees really feel at home. In an interview with the Standard, the young CEO always advises that one should follow their passion, and start with whatever they have and soon, they'll find a way to their dreams.
