IDPS in Trans- Nzoia in the weekend camped at the local stadium, as they too claim a share of the Kshs. 400,000 that was handed to IDPs two weeks ago. The IDPs are from the 1992, 1997, and the 2007 election and tribal clashes. Some are also IDPs who were evicted from their farms in the Mount Elgon land clashes. The government has made a commitment to shut down all the IDP camps, and have them buy land
wherever they want, an admission which could mean that many IDPs are unwilling to return to their initial homes.
