Following the shoot out at the West gate Mall in Westlands, several neighboring countries have beefed up their own security. The West gate Mall is a frequent hanging place for Western expatriates, and rich Kenyans, who enjoy the serene environment in the area, and the ample shopping and relaxing place. The mall hosts the Nakumatt supermarket, several restaurants and cafes, jewellery and beauty shops, electronics
amongst other consumer goods. The place is populated by thousands of shoppers every weekend, making it a prime target for would be assailants.
